Frequently asked questions
A few common questions
What’s the catch?
There isn’t a hidden one. My design and development fee is waived for the agreed scope, and in return you give permission for me to feature the finished website as a portfolio case study. You still pay your own running costs, such as your domain, hosting and any paid tools, and any work outside the agreed scope is quoted separately.
How do you choose which businesses to work with?
I’m reviewing a limited number of applications for two or three places. After you get in touch, we’ll have a short call to check whether your business and project are a good fit for the programme and its scope. I’ll let you know within 3 working days of our call.
What if I’m not selected?
I’ll let you know either way. If the programme isn’t the right fit, I’d still be happy to talk about your website at my standard pricing, with no obligation.
How long does the project take?
Once the scope, platform and content are confirmed, most projects take up to three weeks. I’ll confirm your timeline before work begins.
Which platform will my website be built on?
We’ll agree one platform before work starts. I’ll recommend the option that best suits your business, your budget and how you’d like to manage the website.
Will I be able to update the website myself?
Yes. I can set up the parts you’d like to edit yourself, such as text, images or opening hours, and the handover includes guidance on making those updates.
Do I need to sign anything?
Yes. Before work starts, I’ll send you a written agreement to review and sign. It covers the agreed scope, our responsibilities, out-of-pocket costs, ownership and portfolio permission.
What happens after launch?
I’ll hand over your website, access and guidance. You can manage the website yourself, or choose an optional Care plan for ongoing maintenance, from £59 per month.
